How we work

SDV Sector runs an AI-assisted newsroom. Software monitors several hundred primary sources around the clock, drafts our articles and assembles our newsletter. Our editor sets the rules it works under. Within them, the software decides which news items to publish, up to six a day; anything beyond that waits for the editor. Every story must link its primary source and pass automated checks before it can go live. A separate AI review desk rules on items the system holds back and on corrections to published articles, and a blind check re-verifies every article against its sources after publication. Anything involving our publisher or its group companies is published only with the editor's personal approval.

We link the primary source in every story. Where no primary source is reachable, we say so and attribute the report to the outlet that carried it, or we do not publish. We never publish paywalled content, we rewrite rather than copy, and we correct our mistakes openly (see Corrections). Press releases in our Press Room are published as submitted and are labelled as non-editorial content.
