BYD makes DTS AutoStage its exclusive infotainment platform outside China

BYD becomes Xperi's 14th OEM partner, standardizing the third-party media platform across its export markets from late 2026.

BYD will use Xperi’s DTS AutoStage as the exclusive in-car media platform across its international model lineup, covering Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, the companies announced. Rollout is planned from the fourth quarter of 2026 or earlier depending on market.

The platform combines broadcast radio with IP-delivered audio and in-vehicle video in a single system; Xperi says it already reaches more than 16 million vehicles in over 150 countries, and BYD becomes its fourteenth automotive OEM partner.

BYD builds its own batteries, chips and driving software — but for the media layer of its fast-growing export fleet, it standardized on a third-party platform. The choice maps the boundary between software an OEM considers strategic and software it treats as a commodity.

Why it mattersEven the most vertically integrated Chinese OEM buys the software layers that don't differentiate — a useful marker of where the build-versus-buy line actually sits.
