Qualcomm named BMW Group's lead compute silicon provider through the next decade
BMW will build its next-generation digital cockpit and automated-driving systems on Qualcomm's Snapdragon platforms under a decade-spanning agreement.
Qualcomm will be BMW Group’s lead compute silicon provider for digital cockpit and driver-assistance systems, under an agreement the companies describe as spanning vehicle programs into the next decade.
The deal covers Snapdragon Cockpit and Snapdragon Ride platforms, Snapdragon Elite automotive systems-on-chip, and dedicated AI accelerators. It extends a collaboration that reached a milestone in November 2025 with the commercial launch of Snapdragon Ride Pilot in the BMW iX3, the first vehicle on BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture.
Nakul Duggal, who leads Qualcomm’s automotive business, said the selection “reflects the trust BMW Group has placed in our technology.”
The commitment gives BMW a stable compute foundation across cockpit and assisted-driving domains as it consolidates ECUs into central computers — and gives Qualcomm an anchor customer for its automotive roadmap at a time when NVIDIA, Renesas and OEM in-house silicon programs are competing for the same sockets. For the supplier landscape, the message is that compute platform decisions are now made once per architecture generation, not once per model.
