China's MIIT opens comment on a vehicle-cloud communication security standard
The ministry put the approval draft of a security standard for the car-to-cloud link in vehicle-road cooperative systems out for public comment, at the head of a batch of 50 communications-industry standards.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published a notice on August 12 opening public comment on the approval drafts of 50 communications-industry standards. The notice came from the ministry’s Department of Science and Technology and was signed August 11.
The standard named in the notice’s title is “Security technical requirements for vehicle-cloud communication oriented to vehicle-road cooperation.” The ministry said the relevant standardization technical organizations had completed the 50 standards under the industry standard-setting plan, and that it was publishing them to gather views from across society before approval.
The drafts are to be read on the ministry’s Industry and Information Technology Standards Information Service Platform, in its project notice section. The comment period runs from August 12 to September 10, 2026, and the notice gives a telephone number for responses.
The notice does not identify the remaining 49 standards, and the ministry’s standards platform did not return a list when queried, so how many of the batch apply to vehicles could not be established from the published material. The batch is being issued as communications-industry standards rather than as GB national standards.
Vehicle-road cooperation is the term used in China for the roadside infrastructure and communications layer around connected vehicles. China’s in-vehicle cybersecurity and software-update requirements sit in the mandatory national standards GB 44495 and GB 44496, and its safety standard for automated driving, GB 44721, becomes mandatory in July 2027.
