FCA US recalled 848,511 vehicles over radio software that hid the rearview camera

The remedy for the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles is an over-the-air radio software update delivered across all four brands.

FCA US said on August 17 that it is voluntarily recalling an estimated 848,511 US-market vehicles to address radio software that may prevent the rearview camera image from appearing on the vehicle’s media screen.

The company said customers will receive an over-the-air radio software update across all affected brands, with a prompt appearing on the media screen when the update is available. Until then, it advised drivers who do not see the camera image to use their rearview and side mirrors and to remain aware of their surroundings when reversing.

The recall covers the 2026 and 2027 model-year Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager minivans and Dodge Charger; the 2026 Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L and Wrangler; and the 2026 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups and ProMaster and ProMaster EV vans. FCA US said it is unaware of any related accidents or injuries.

At the time of writing the campaign had not appeared in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recalls database, whose published records ran to campaigns filed on August 12.

Why it mattersA federal safety requirement failing because of infotainment software, and being closed remotely across four brands at once, shows how far compliance now depends on the update pipeline rather than the service bay.
