Xiaomi unveiled a 3nm driving chip it says runs 200-billion-parameter models

Xiaomi was reported to have presented Xring D100, its first in-house smart-driving processor, at a chip briefing on August 24, with commercial use set for 2027.

Xiaomi presented its first in-house smart-driving processor, the Xring D100, at a chip briefing on August 24, according to CnEVPost and the Chinese technology outlet IT Home, which carried the same specifications and published first. Xiaomi publishes no reachable first-party release for the announcement, and this account rests on those reports.

Both outlets reported that Xiaomi described the D100 as the first high-compute smart-driving AI chip in China built on a 3nm process, combining a 20-core CPU with a 16-core neural processing unit and supporting up to 160 GB of unified memory. Xiaomi said it can run models of up to 200 billion parameters locally, that the design has completed validation, and that commercial use is scheduled for 2027.

CnEVPost reported that Xiaomi did not disclose the chip’s computing power in operations per second, its foundry, the first vehicle to use it, or a timetable for fitting it to cars. Before any vehicle deployment, the company has put the D100 in a desktop artificial-intelligence prototype it calls the AI Cube, which runs 120-billion and 3-billion parameter models locally.

The D100 was announced alongside two other processors, the Xring O3 for phones and the Xring O100 accelerator, all three described as having completed validation.

Xiaomi’s electric vehicles currently use NVIDIA Thor chips for their driver-assistance systems, having previously used NVIDIA Orin. Every performance figure above is the company’s own claim, relayed by the outlets, and none has been independently measured.
