Bethel Automotive Safety Systems said its first electro-mechanical brake project had entered mass production, and described itself as the first supplier worldwide to mass-produce a fully dry electro-mechanical brake and the first to pass ISO 26262 ASIL-D functional-safety certification for one. Both claims were the company’s own. Bethel said it was pursuing three chassis domain controller routes against different E/E architectures, including a central domain controller paired with four-wheel electro-mechanical braking, whose first platform is in test validation. Its intelligent electronic-control shipments reached 3,974,901 units in the half, up 39.05%.
Ningbo Tuopu Group said several projects using its intelligent brake system had reached scale mass production, and reported ISO 26262 ASIL-D certification for that system paired with a redundant brake unit. It also described a newly developed redundant brake system built as two brake controllers mutually redundant with the stability-control system. The company said that architecture natively supports Level 3 and above automated driving and is expected in mass production in 2027, and that it was co-developing an electro-mechanical brake with FAW Hongqi and Seres.
Huayu Automotive Systems said Bosch Huayu Steering Systems had completed first mass production of its steer-by-wire system on IM Motors and XPeng programs, and that Shanghai Automobile Brake Systems had produced its first electro-mechanical caliper.
Bethel attributed the shift to two national standards taking effect this year, which it said had cleared the institutional obstacles to commercializing by-wire technology: GB 21670-2025, which added electro-mechanical brake requirements, and GB 17675-2025, which removed the mandatory mechanical connection in steering.
