Bosch details central vehicle computers and SOVD diagnostics for software-defined trucks
The supplier's IAA Transportation portfolio put cockpit and vehicle integration platforms, over-the-air-capable computers and an ETAS diagnostic stack built on ASAM SOVD at the center of its commercial-vehicle software case.

Bosch set out the software and electronics it will show at IAA Transportation in Hanover, describing central E/E architectures built around what it called powerful and scalable vehicle computers. The release was published on September 2. IAA Transportation runs from September 15 to 20, with a press day on September 14.
Two platforms carried the architecture case. A cockpit integration platform brings together the functions for driver interaction, from operating the infotainment system to other cockpit applications. A vehicle integration platform combines functions from the motion, energy and body domains on a central computer. Bosch said these high-performance computers enable the transition to software-defined commercial vehicles by supporting fast over-the-air software updates, secure gateways and on-demand features.
The software layer came from ETAS, the Bosch subsidiary. Its vehicle software platform suite is “based on the open-source initiative Eclipse S-CORE” and supports architectures from classic control units through to computers for assisted and automated driving. ETAS also introduced a next-generation vehicle health and repair product, described as a service-oriented diagnostic approach based on the ASAM SOVD standard, pooling vehicle data, diagnostic functions and service information to identify faults in software-defined trucks.
On sensing, Bosch said its MPC4 multipurpose camera is the first to fuse data from the camera’s surround sensors, with computing power increased twentyfold over the previous model and production starting in 2027. A seventh-generation radar sensor with a waveguide antenna and an in-house system on a chip follows the same year.
The company also noted that the EU has required sensor-based driver warning systems on all newly registered trucks since mid-2026, and that two European truck manufacturers already fit its side-mirror drowsiness camera as standard. A separate control unit still processes that image data; Bosch said a central domain controller would handle the task in future.
