Stellantis and Dongfeng's China venture picked Momenta's world model for Peugeot and Jeep

Shenlong Automobile Technology, the Wuhan engineering company formed inside Dongfeng Motor and Stellantis’s Chinese joint venture, said on September 28 that it had signed a global strategic cooperation agreement with Momenta. Both companies dated the signing itself to September 24, in Shanghai.

Momenta said the agreement covers user experience, assisted driving and higher-level automated driving, and that the two sides would combine Momenta’s software with the shareholders’ vehicle engineering by integrating smart-cockpit and E/E architecture technologies. The roadmap the two set out covers volume assisted-driving packages and the development of Level 3 automated driving. Several new Shenlong electric and plug-in hybrid models will carry Momenta’s latest in-house world model, with launches staged from 2027 and the co-developed vehicles sold in Europe and other markets.

Shenlong described the model as combining pre-training, closed-loop simulation, reinforcement learning and end-to-end assisted-driving algorithms, generating driving decisions from multimodal input rather than from rule-based execution. Its release also set out chassis work, with brake pressure at each of the four wheels independently adjustable through the brake motion control unit and a redundant braking architecture held in reserve.

Shenlong Technology general manager Lü Haitao called it “the first strategic-level cooperation on the technology dimension since the new company was established”. Momenta framed the deal as a step in its own internationalization.

Neither release named a figure. Momenta’s Hong Kong listing carried no announcement between September 25 and 29, and Stellantis’s most recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission was a 6-K dated September 16. Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Shenlong’s other parent, is unlisted.
