SAIC put a ByteDance cockpit agent on 2,000-plus SOA interfaces in the Roewe Jiayue 07

SAIC Motor said the car's Doubao cockpit assistant, built with ByteDance's Volcano Engine, schedules vehicle hardware through more than 2,000 vehicle-wide service-oriented architecture interfaces.

SAIC Motor said on October 13 that the Roewe Jiayue 07, shown at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, carries a cockpit assistant developed with ByteDance’s Volcano Engine that reaches vehicle hardware through more than 2,000 vehicle-wide service-oriented architecture interfaces.

According to the company, the Doubao cockpit assistant performs what it called atomic scheduling of vehicle hardware, turning complex intent expressed in natural language into specific tasks and chaining them across navigation, driving, cockpit entertainment and other vehicle controls, so that a single spoken instruction produces a sequence of actions. SAIC said the car also retrieves real-time information over its network connection, joining search, services and on-vehicle capability into one chain, and that its capabilities advance as the cloud model is updated. The company described the vehicle as the world’s first AI-native car.

SAIC set the arrangement against what it described as the earlier stage of a head unit paired with a voice assistant, saying seats, lighting, refrigerator, audio and assisted driving are now reachable from a single AI layer.

Separately at the same event, SAIC’s IM brand showed a full by-wire concept cabin whose Lingxi chassis the company said responds in 20 milliseconds, and the IM LS8 NEO, which it said fits that chassis as standard equipment across the range. The fair runs from October 12 to 16 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.

Why it mattersThe interface count is the part of an AI cockpit claim that can be engineered against, because an assistant can only act on hardware the vehicle has exposed as a service.
