Aumovio and BMW expand brake and electronics partnership past €1 billion
Continental's former automotive unit extends MK C2 integrated brake deliveries to the mid-2030s and settles past warranty disputes with a €350 million payment.
Aumovio, the automotive business spun out of Continental, expanded its supply and development partnership with BMW Group around the MK C2 integrated brake system and related electronics, with a planned order volume exceeding €1 billion and deliveries extended through the mid-2030s.
The MK C2 combines master cylinder, booster and control functions in one unit, built for regenerative braking and the fast, precise actuation that automated-driving functions require. Alongside the expansion, Aumovio paid €350 million to settle legal proceedings tied to a previously supplied integrated brake system — closing a dispute while deepening the relationship.
The pairing of a warranty settlement with a decade-length order illustrates how dependent OEMs and their by-wire suppliers have become on each other: switching costs on safety-critical, software-governed actuation systems now rival those of compute platforms.
