Avatr launched the 07L among the first models fitted with Huawei's ADS 5 stack

Avatr launched the 07L, a five-seat sport utility vehicle, on August 8, CnEVPost reported. The carmaker’s own product page describes the vehicle as among the first equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver-assistance system on the WEWA 2.0 architecture, and lists it from RMB 229,900.

Avatr said the system rested on three technologies it named as cloud-side group game theory, online reinforcement learning and a safety risk field. It said the car could activate navigate-on-autopilot anywhere, and supported a roaming cruise assist mode that worked without navigation running and with no destination set.

The vehicle carries a Huawei Qiankun lidar that Avatr described as having 896 lines and a dual-optical-path, dual-focus design it called a first of its kind, claiming a fourfold increase in resolution and the identification of a 14-centimeter obstacle at 120 meters. The page said the Elite battery-electric version instead carries a Huawei in-cabin laser sensor marketed as Limera, which it said detects a 30-centimeter target 43 percent further away than lidars of more than 120 lines.

The page lists five connected screens: a 35.4-inch panoramic display, a 15.6-inch floating center screen, two 6.7-inch exterior mirror displays and a 9-inch interior mirror.

It also carries a standing disclaimer that the assisted-driving functions are assistance only, cannot replace driver control, and that the driver remains the party responsible for safe driving.

Huawei began a fleet-wide over-the-air update rollout of ADS 5 in late July. The 07L is among the first vehicles to carry the system fitted at the factory rather than delivered to a car already sold.
