Zhuoyu takes its passenger-car driving model into heavy trucks with seven makers
Gasgoo reported that Zhuoyu Technology launched a commercial-vehicle brand called Panxing in Zhuhai, carrying a driving model trained on passenger-car data into trucks, buses and vans, with partnerships at seven Chinese manufacturers at varying stages.
Zhuoyu Technology launched a commercial-vehicle technology brand called Panxing at an event in Zhuhai on October 29, according to a report by the Chinese trade outlet Gasgoo. Zhuoyu’s own site has no newsroom, so no first-party record of the launch could be located there, and the account below rests on that report.
Gasgoo named seven manufacturers as partners at varying stages: XCMG Auto, Shaanxi Automobile Group, Sinotruk, FAW Jiefang, Foton, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle and Yutong Bus. It reported that the Shaanxi Delong X5000 carrying Panxing PDS 4 entered mass production in June, with several hundred trucks on express trunk routes, and that models from XCMG, Sinotruk, Dongfeng and Foton are expected by the end of the year.
Gasgoo reported that Zhuoyu migrated its passenger-car intelligent driving model to commercial vehicles, combining more than 3 billion kilometers of passenger-car driving data with 400 million frames of heavy-truck data. PDS 4 covers trunk logistics; PDS 5, built on a native multimodal foundation model, is planned to extend to buses, light trucks and vans. Zhuoyu put its reinforcement-learning fuel saving at between 4.5 and 7.5 percent.
Two of the seven named partners are also Zhuoyu shareholders. Zhuoyu’s own corporate record names strategic investment from FAW Group, whose Jiefang arm is one of the seven, and reports of the market regulator’s merger notice put FAW’s holding at 35.8 percent alongside joint control of the company. XCMG, whose vehicle arm is another of the seven, is among Zhuoyu’s investors through its Yunhan fund, as reported by the Economic Information Daily. Nothing in the launch coverage cited here mentions an equity relationship; our October 9 report carries the FAW investment.
Gasgoo added two qualifications: Zhuoyu had already disclosed these partnerships at the Beijing auto show earlier this year, and because the seven sit at different stages of designation, mass production and delivery, the actual installed scale and operating performance remain to be seen. This is assisted driving, not autonomy.
