Astemo will license TIER IV's Co-MLOps architecture for an end-to-end driving platform
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to build a development platform for production end-to-end autonomous driving models, with commercialization targeted around 2030.
TIER IV said on August 5 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Astemo to jointly develop a next-generation software development platform for autonomous driving systems.
Under the agreement, Astemo will license TIER IV’s Co-MLOps architecture and related technologies, and the two companies will build a platform integrating the collection, processing, training, evaluation and continuous improvement of AI models. TIER IV said commercialization is targeted around 2030, and that Astemo aims to deploy Level 4-plus end-to-end models in passenger vehicles in the early 2030s.
The companies described end-to-end models — which integrate perception, planning and control into a single learning process — as an emerging foundational technology for next-generation driver assistance and autonomous driving. Bringing them to production readiness, they said, requires compliance with automotive safety and manufacturing standards alongside infrastructure able to continuously collect, process, train and evaluate large-scale driving data.
The two have worked together before, on the reference implementation of Open AD Kit through the Autoware Foundation and SOAFEE, and Astemo has been involved in TIER IV’s Co-MLOps project since it launched in January 2024. TIER IV said Astemo will in parallel establish an internal framework for developing end-to-end models that meet the quality and safety requirements for mass-production vehicles.
