Einride will put its Level 4 driver software into DAF's electric trucks from 2027

Einride and DAF Trucks announced on August 12 that they would integrate Einride Driver, Einride’s SAE Level 4 autonomous driving system, into DAF’s electric truck platform.

Both releases scoped the work to DAF’s electric truck platform — the one carrying the International Truck of the Year 2026 title — and did not name individual models as part of the program. The Dutch research institute TNO joins the two companies on the integration work and on compliance.

Both companies described the arrangement as a joint initiative rather than a supply agreement, and neither disclosed a contract value, a volume commitment or an order. The work is staged: initial tests and validation of the key interfaces run through 2026, with integration and commissioning of Einride’s driving software in 2027, followed by interface validation and functional testing on a DAF truck.

The releases said the parties were working with type approval authorities so that the platform would be compliant for future expansion onto public roads. DAF said the collaboration built on the North American Autonomous Vehicle Platform program run by its parent, PACCAR.

Einride, which listed on Nasdaq in June, has previously described its driving system as independent of any particular vehicle. Henrik Green, the company’s chief technology officer, said the collaboration validated that approach and brought Einride closer to deploying Level 4 autonomy at commercial scale. Jeroen van den Oetelaar, chief engineer and a board member at DAF, spoke for the manufacturer.
