WeRide's ADAS services revenue rose 2,593.8 percent as L2++ deliveries reached 30,000
The autonomous driving company reported that revenue from the business it defines as driver-assistance research and development services grew almost twenty-seven times year over year, against a 47.3 percent increase in its Level 4 business.
WeRide reported unaudited second-quarter results on August 12 showing total revenue of RMB231.7 million, an increase of 82.2 percent year over year and 103.1 percent quarter over quarter.
The company splits its revenue into three businesses. Its Level 4 business, which it defines as sales of autonomous vehicles and the operational and technical support around them, produced RMB125.2 million, up 47.3 percent year over year. Its L2++/L3 business, which the filing defines in a footnote as driver-assistance research and development services, grew 2,593.8 percent year over year and 219.3 percent quarter over quarter. WeRide did not give that segment’s revenue as a figure.
Behind the percentage, the company reported second-quarter deliveries of roughly 30,000 units of WRD 3.0, which it describes as a one-stage end-to-end L2++/L3 solution. It said it had secured L2++ production design wins across more than 30 vehicle models and one Level 3 proof-of-concept project, and that WRD 3.0 had begun on-road testing and localization validation in France, Germany and Japan among other markets.
Product revenue was RMB92.3 million and service revenue RMB139.4 million. Research and development expenses for the quarter were RMB434.3 million, against RMB318.9 million a year earlier. Overseas revenue rose 164.4 percent year over year.
