Applied Intuition said its simulation platform cleared TÜV SÜD's VIVALDI assessment
The company announced a certification it said makes virtual evidence from its toolchain usable toward UN R171 approval, without publishing a certificate number or the date the assessment finished.
Applied Intuition announced on August 19 that its development platform had received VIVALDI Inspection Certification from TÜV SÜD, which the company said verifies the platform as fit for virtual validation of automated driving systems.
VIVALDI, which stands for Virtual Validation Readiness Index, is TÜV SÜD’s framework for assessing whether a simulation platform is suitable for safety-critical validation. Applied Intuition said the assessment covered more than 100 requirements across four areas: scenario generation and coverage, test management and reporting, data integrity and auditability, and simulation determinism and scalability. It said TÜV SÜD conducted documentation audits and onsite technical evaluations, and found the platform met or exceeded the VIVALDI standards in all four.
The company tied the certification to type approval under UN Regulation 171, which governs driver control assistance systems. Under that regulation, it said, simulation results count only if the tools generating them have passed a credibility assessment — so a manufacturer is required to demonstrate not only that its system works but that its toolchain can be trusted. Applied Intuition said the certified platform supports software-, hardware-, vehicle- and processor-in-the-loop workflows, and that customers using it would begin homologation with the simulation environment already assessed.
The announcement did not include a certificate number and did not say when the assessment was completed. Applied Intuition published the claim on August 19; the date the certification was granted is not disclosed anywhere in the announcement. The certification is issued by TÜV SÜD, which had not been reached for its own account of the assessment.
