Genesis put Hyundai's Pleos Connect and cloud battery diagnostics into the GV90

Genesis unveiled the GV90, its first full-size flagship sport utility vehicle, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on August 19. Hyundai Motor Group published the announcement the following day in Korea.

The vehicle carries Pleos Connect, which Hyundai Motor Group described as its next-generation infotainment platform, “providing an interface fit for a Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV).” The company said Pleos Connect is based on the Android Automotive Operating System and that owners can download third-party vehicle applications through the Pleos App Market. It is paired with an onboard generative artificial intelligence agent the company calls Gleo AI, which occupants use to reach controls and search through conversation.

On the battery side, Hyundai said the GV90 adds a cloud-based battery management system pre-diagnostic function that performs real-time diagnostics and identifies potential anomalies in advance, notifying the driver when an abnormality is detected. A wireless battery management system is fitted to improve the packaging efficiency of the battery system.

The company said the GV90 is the first Hyundai Motor Group vehicle to adopt a New Power Control System, which removes the start button: the vehicle powers on as a passenger pulls the door handle, and the shifter moves into position once the door closes.

The vehicle uses a 123.5 kilowatt-hour battery with a combined output of 657 horsepower. Hyundai’s English-language announcement made no reference to over-the-air updates.
