Great Wall's profit more than halved as it shipped a new driver-assistance generation
The carmaker's interim results paired a 53 percent fall in total profit with rising research spending, the rollout of Coffee Pilot 4 and a cockpit operating system it plans to push to more models by over-the-air update.
Great Wall Motor reported first-half revenue of RMB 102.101 billion, up 10.58 percent, and total profit of RMB 3.281 billion, down 53.16 percent, in interim results filed to the Hong Kong exchange on August 25. Research and development expenses rose 7.74 percent to RMB 4.568 billion, and headcount grew from 83,976 to 99,630.
On driver assistance, the company said its Coffee Pilot 3 system had entered mass production on the ORA 5 and the Raptor PLUS, and that Coffee Pilot 4 had launched, fitted to the 2026 Blue Mountain Intelligent Advanced Edition, the all-new TANK 700 and the WEY V9X, with a rollout planned across the WEY and TANK ranges.
Coffee OS 3.4 shipped on the WEY V9X and is to reach further models by over-the-air update. The company said it is accelerating development of Coffee AI OS 4, which it describes as a native cockpit system built on next-generation cockpit chips and on a device-cloud integrated vehicle brain architecture it calls Master-Agent, with data synchronized between vehicle and cloud. Great Wall said a dual vision-language-action large model supports both its advanced driving and its cockpit, and reported full-stack self-development in intelligence, power and chassis.
