ThunderSoft's automotive revenue rose 18.8% as it recast its stack around an AI OS
China's largest automotive operating-system house reported first-half revenue up 30.5 percent and said the vehicle operating system itself now has to run models, schedule agents and govern their permissions.
ThunderSoft reported first-half revenue of RMB 4.305 billion, up 30.46 percent, and net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 245.6 million, up 54.97 percent, in an interim report filed to cninfo on August 26.
The intelligent automotive segment contributed RMB 1.4124 billion, an increase of 18.82 percent, at a gross margin of 43.26 percent — down 2.76 percentage points year on year. Intelligent software rose 22.05 percent to RMB 1.026 billion and intelligent connected devices 46.93 percent to RMB 1.866 billion. Domestic revenue grew faster than overseas, at 37.34 percent against 22.78 percent.
The report frames the company’s strategy around what it calls an AI operating system. It describes intelligent vehicles as developing from software-defined toward AI-driven, and lists the AI-defined vehicle among the areas it is building full-stack products for. In ThunderSoft’s account the vehicle operating system itself has to acquire model execution, agent scheduling, task orchestration and security governance, with the operating system, middleware, applications, vehicle control interfaces and ecosystem services all addressable by agents inside defined permission and safety boundaries.
The company said that work ships in Dishui AIOS 2.1, and that it has built a cockpit agent called AquaClaw on top of that base, using an architecture combining on-device processing with cloud coordination. It said more than 90 percent of its global research team are engineers and technical specialists.
