Momenta reported 76% revenue growth in its first results as a listed company

The Chinese driving-software supplier earned 62 percent of its first-half revenue from engineering contracts and the rest from per-vehicle licence fees, at a gross margin above 73 percent.

Momenta Global reported revenue of 1.60 billion yuan for the six months to June 30, up 75.9 percent, in its first interim results since listing in Hong Kong. Gross profit rose 79.4 percent and gross margin reached 73.2 percent, against 71.8 percent a year earlier.

The revenue split shows where the money comes from. Technical development services, the engineering work Momenta does for carmakers, contributed 995 million yuan, or 62.1 percent of the total, up 81.5 percent. Licensing services contributed 607 million yuan, up 67.5 percent. The company attributed the margin improvement to economies of scale from what it calls a vehicle-agnostic platform.

The reported loss of 16.54 billion yuan is almost entirely non-cash: a fair-value movement on preferred shares and other financial liabilities accounted for 16.31 billion yuan of it, with listing expenses of 37.7 million yuan and share-based compensation of 173.8 million yuan on top. The adjusted loss was 14.1 million yuan, which the announcement said had narrowed by 96.6 percent.

Momenta listed 26 carmaker customers and 105 mass-produced models, up from 68 at the end of 2025, with cumulative installations above one million units and 219 cumulative nominations, of which 114 have not yet reached start of production. Research and development spending of 1.16 billion yuan was 72.6 percent of revenue, and R&D staff made up 79.1 percent of headcount. The company said it obtained a nationwide Level 4 testing licence from Germany’s Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt in July, and described itself as the first Chinese company to hold one.

Why it mattersThis is the clearest public evidence yet on whether a supplier that sells only driving software, with no hardware to fall back on, can carry its own development bill.
