Hirain and Arbe won a Level 3 radar program spanning a global carmaker's brands

Beijing Jingwei Hirain Technologies and Arbe Robotics said on September 8 that one of the world’s largest automotive groups had selected Hirain’s imaging radar for a Level 3 automated driving program covering multiple brands under the group in China. Arbe filed the joint announcement with the Securities and Exchange Commission as an exhibit to a Form 6-K the same morning.

The companies did not name the customer. Under the arrangement described, Hirain delivers the complete radar system and leads system development, manufacturing, integration, validation and quality, while Arbe supplies the chipset that generates the radar data consumed by what the announcement called the vehicle’s central automated-driving platform. Arbe’s Phoenix system is specified at 2,304 virtual channels.

Series-production deliveries of the radar are due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, ahead of the start of vehicle production. Dr. Chengjian Fan, chief technology officer of Hirain, and Ram Machness, chief executive of Arbe, were quoted in the announcement.

Neither the filing nor its exhibit gave a contract value, a volume or a duration. Hirain is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market; a search of the Chinese disclosure platform cninfo for the company returned no filings on September 8 or 9, so no domestic disclosure of the award exists to compare against. Arbe is also listed in Tel Aviv, and the Israeli copy of the announcement was not examined.
