Kodiak said its driverless long-haul safety case reached 93 percent complete

Kodiak AI said on September 8 that its Autonomy Readiness Measure for driverless long-haul operations stood at 93 percent at the end of August, up from 91 percent at the end of July. The company defines the measure as the share of the claims and supporting evidence in its safety case that are materially complete. It reported the same figure at 84 percent in February and 86 percent in April.

The safety case is the structured argument, with evidence attached, that the Kodiak Driver is acceptably safe within a defined operating environment. The company said the remaining work is final engineering verification and validation, and reaffirmed that it expects to launch driverless long-haul trucking commercially by the end of 2026.

Kodiak said the long-haul safety case builds on a completed one for industrial operations in the Permian Basin, where it reported 35 driverless trucks in commercial operation with nobody in the cab at the end of the second quarter. The company said it runs a single artificial-intelligence architecture across its use cases while maintaining a separate safety case for each operating environment, so evidence gathered in one setting supports but does not substitute for the argument in another.

The figure was published on the company’s newsroom rather than filed. Kodiak, which trades on Nasdaq, has made no filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission since August 7, when it filed its quarterly report on Form 10-Q.
