Japan named the consortia for its automated freight corridor trials
The transport ministry published the participants selected to run this financial year's demonstrations of the Autoflow Road, a dedicated lane for unmanned automated freight.
Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism published on September 8 the list of participants selected for this financial year’s demonstrations of the Autoflow Road, its plan for dedicated logistics space within road corridors served by unmanned, automated and low-emission transport. The open call ran from July 22 to August 21.
The ministry’s annex names seven selected entries. They are Logisnext; Toyota Industries; a group of Shimizu, IHI and Nomura Real Estate; a group of Taisei Corporation, TIER IV and Taisei Rotec; a group of Chiba Prefecture, Narita International Airport, Obayashi, Cuebus and NTT Data; a group of Kajima, Mitsubishi Electric, Seino Transportation and Dynamic Map Platform; and Forum8, whose entry covers simulation of oncoming and high-speed running and assessment of pressure waves.
The ministry gave no funding figures for the selections and set out no schedule beyond the current financial year. TIER IV and Dynamic Map Platform are both listed in Tokyo; neither made a disclosure to the exchange on September 8 or 9, consistent with the ministry describing these as selections rather than concluded contracts.
