PATEO won its first two-wheeler program for a body-panel sound system
The cockpit software supplier told the Hong Kong exchange that an unnamed Chinese electric two-wheeler maker had designated it for a system that turns the vehicle's outer panels into speakers.
PATEO CONNECT Technology told the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on September 8 that a manufacturer of high-end electric two-wheelers in China had formally designated it as supplier of its Vehicle-Bodied Sound-Emitting Interaction System. The company said it is its first program outside four-wheeled vehicles.
The system is built on what the announcement described as an ultra-thin, automotive-grade piezoelectric transducer that drives the vehicle’s outer panels so they emit sound, with dual-mode vibration sensing added. PATEO listed the functions it claims for it: surround audio around the vehicle, voice interaction while riding, acoustic hazard warnings, waking the vehicle by tapping the bodywork, and detecting collisions and scrapes as they happen. The company said it holds full independent intellectual property rights in the system.
The announcement named neither the customer nor any commercial terms. It gave no contract value, no volume and no date for first delivery, and the filing was made voluntarily rather than under a disclosure obligation. It was signed by chairman Ying Zhenkai in Shanghai.
