BlackBerry raised its QNX outlook after a record quarter that closed before Coretura

BlackBerry reported results for the three months ended August 31 on September 24, and the QNX segment that sells its safety-certified vehicle operating system carried the quarter. QNX revenue rose 27 percent year over year to $80.3 million, which the company described as record quarterly revenue, and the segment’s adjusted gross margin expanded by four percentage points to 87 percent. Segment adjusted EBITDA rose 41 percent to $29.0 million, a 36 percent margin. Total company revenue was $163.3 million, up 26 percent.

The company raised its outlook for the full fiscal year. Its guidance table put QNX revenue for fiscal 2027 at $315 million to $325 million and QNX segment adjusted EBITDA at $95 million to $105 million, with third-quarter QNX revenue of $82 million to $88 million.

The Alloy Kore design win at Coretura, the Volvo Group and Daimler Truck joint venture, is not in those figures. BlackBerry said it added more than $100 million to the QNX royalty backlog and was the largest design win in QNX history, and the quarterly report placed the announcement after the quarter had ended. Royalty backlog is not revenue in any case.

The quarterly report also carried a number the results release did not. Both documents described QNX adding support for the Hailo-8 AI accelerator on its SDP 8.0 platform. The release said benchmark testing had shown “significantly greater consistency” than the real-time Linux environment tested; the filing put the same result at up to 14 times greater performance consistency.
