Valeo said Nissan made it the System Tier-1 for the next ProPILOT, with Wayve's AI Driver

Valeo said it would act as lead system integrator for Nissan's next-generation ProPILOT and would integrate Wayve's AI Driver as the driving intelligence layer on its own sensors, domain controller and software.

Valeo said on October 1 that Nissan had selected it as partner for the next generation of ProPILOT, Nissan’s driver assistance brand, and described its own role as system Tier 1 for the program.

The release sets out a full-stack hardware and software scope. Valeo said it would supply sensors giving 360-degree situational awareness, high-performance computing, and what it called centralized intelligence by way of an ADAS domain controller designed to process complex AI algorithms and support centralized vehicle intelligence. It said it would integrate Wayve’s AI Driver software as the driving intelligence layer within an automotive-grade system, and would validate, integrate and industrialize the complete solution.

The release names no contract value, no vehicle volumes and no start-of-production date, and no disclosure of those terms appears in either company’s compelled filings. Valeo’s regulated information page carries no filing for the transaction, its most recent entry being the monthly share count and voting rights notice of September 10. Nissan filed nothing on the Tokyo exchange’s disclosure service on October 1 or October 2. Wayve is privately held in the United Kingdom.

Valeo was the only one of the three parties to publish anything. Nissan’s global newsroom carried no release dated October 1, its most recent item being from September 29, and Wayve’s press page has carried nothing since September 22, when it announced a production agreement with Mercedes-Benz.

Why it mattersIt puts a named third-party driving model inside a Japanese carmaker's flagship assistance brand with a European supplier owning the integration boundary, which is a different division of labor from an OEM building the stack itself.
