Honda and Nissan each hired Applied Intuition's Vehicle OS for their next platforms
Applied Intuition announced two separate agreements on the same day, supplying its Vehicle OS software to both Japanese carmakers for their next-generation in-vehicle software platforms.

Applied Intuition published two press releases on October 6 announcing separate agreements with Honda and with Nissan, in each case to supply its Vehicle OS software for the carmaker’s next-generation in-vehicle software platform.
The Honda release described the scope as a full-vehicle software-defined vehicle platform, centralized and upgradable, with Applied Intuition supporting Honda’s in-house development across all powertrains including hybrids. It quoted Mahito Shikama, Honda’s Chief Officer for Corporate Strategy Operations, saying the partnership would let the company accelerate internal development “while maintaining control over our vehicle architecture and software direction.”
The Nissan release covered the same vehicle OS software plus AI-native development tooling, for what it called a scalable and open next-generation in-vehicle software platform that abstracts hardware complexity and unifies legacy and modern software development practices. It dated the relationship to 2020, when Nissan adopted the company’s simulation technology, and said the expanded collaboration extends beyond simulation into in-vehicle operating systems. Takashi Yoshizawa, a corporate executive in Nissan’s SDV Engineering Division, was quoted on the Nissan side.
The two releases used different labels on the same day. Honda’s spoke of software-defined vehicles; Nissan’s spoke of AI-defined vehicles.
Neither carmaker published the agreement itself. The English edition of Honda’s global newsroom carried nothing newer than October 5, its Japanese edition carried only a sales milestone on October 6, and Nissan’s release list did not carry the agreement either. Neither company made a timely disclosure filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on October 6, and Honda filed no 6-K with the SEC. Applied Intuition is privately held. No contract value, term or vehicle volume appears in either release.
