Geely Holding will fit certified Google Automotive Services to its export models

The group said it had reached a global agreement with Google to build the digital cockpit for eligible overseas models across Geely, Lynk & Co, Proton, Riddara and smart, with the first vehicle planned for the second half of 2027.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group said on October 16 that it had reached a global agreement with Google to build a digital cockpit ecosystem for eligible group models in overseas markets where Google services are available. The first vehicle carrying the services is planned for the second half of 2027, with the timing dependent on product development, regulatory compliance and market readiness.

The models in scope carry officially certified Google Automotive Services, covering Google’s Gemini assistant, Google Maps and Google’s in-car app store. The group described the result as a multimodal voice model, global navigation, a large body of in-car applications and connection across devices. It said Google in-car services would progressively extend to more of its passenger-car brands, naming Geely, Lynk & Co, Proton, Riddara and smart, and recorded that Polestar joined the arrangement in 2020.

The group’s English-language release carries a term the Chinese release does not: it places the 2027 launch in global markets outside China and the United States. Shen Yuan, Geely Holding’s senior vice-president and chief technology officer, was quoted in both. Haris Ramic, Google’s product director for Android for Cars, was quoted as well, and Google published nothing of its own, so the quotation stands as Geely’s record of it.

No commercial terms appear in the Chinese or the English release. Geely Automobile Holdings, the group’s listed arm, filed nothing on the Hong Kong exchange between October 16 and October 19 on a query whose control returned rows; Geely Holding Group is unlisted, and no exchange register covers it.

Why it mattersAn export cockpit built on certified Google services is a decision to rent the application layer rather than own it, and this one applies across five brands at once.
