Hyundai Mobis named two in-house development platforms and an on-device AI kit
A release on an internal application hackathon disclosed the platforms the supplier builds vehicle software on: InfoLINK, an infotainment development platform it wrote for Android Automotive OS, IDELINK, a browser-based cloud development environment, and an on-device AI software development kit that runs without an external server.
Hyundai Mobis said on October 28 that it had held a mobility application hackathon at its Mabuk research center in Gyeonggi Province, and in describing what the entrants built it set out the three development platforms it provided, two of which it said it developed in-house.
InfoLINK is an infotainment development platform the company said it developed in-house, specialized for Android Automotive OS. Applications built on it link to vehicle information and control vehicle functions, and occupants can update the programs through an app market. IDELINK is a cloud-based development environment, also developed in-house, that the company said lets developers write and verify code from an internet browser with no dependence on location. The third is an on-device AI software development kit for adding AI features to applications, supporting conversational services and recognition of occupants’ speech, hand gestures, facial expressions and gaze. Because the AI runs inside the vehicle rather than on an external server, the company said it is stable regardless of the communication environment and better for personal data protection.
The competition itself drew 67 teams over about five weeks from September through preliminary and main rounds, with 10 reaching the final. The winner was an AI vehicle diagnosis application called MOBIDIC; MobiMon, which represents vehicle information as a character, and Car de Maker, which summarizes driving records into a keepsake card, were also named. Entry was open to any employee regardless of job function.
Separately, the company described Mobius Bootcamp, a program that provides software training to jobseekers and employees of its suppliers and connects the two. Hyundai Mobis published no figures for how widely InfoLINK or IDELINK are used in production programs, and named no vehicle on which they ship.
