Changan nominated Baidu's former intelligent driving chief as an independent director
The state-owned carmaker's board put forward Li Zhenyu, who led Baidu's Intelligent Driving Group and now chairs an embodied-AI startup, as a candidate for its next board.
Chongqing Changan Automobile disclosed on August 29 that its board had met the previous day and nominated candidates for the company’s tenth board of directors. Among the five independent director candidates is Li Zhenyu, who is currently chairman of Shanghai Tashi Zhihang Technology, an embodied-AI company.
The candidate biography attached to the resolution lists Li’s earlier roles at Baidu: executive deputy general manager of its Intelligent Driving Group and general manager of its autonomous driving business unit, then group vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Driving Group, then president of that group, and later group senior vice president and assistant to the chief executive. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Beihang University.
Li holds no Changan shares. The independent director allowance is 200,000 yuan a year including tax. The nomination requires review by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and approval at a shareholders’ meeting before it takes effect.
The same board meeting nominated Zhu Huarong, Zhao Fei and Ni Erke as non-independent directors, and Yang Xinmin, Tang Guliang, Li Wei and Gu Yanmin as the other independent candidates.
